As part of the Book Week we had a special reading session at school organised by the Minister of Education and the Minister of Inclusion. Our Year 7 students gathered in the school hall for this reading session from the book entitled “Jien u Beppe, Beppe u jien”, a book which Beppe Caruana a Year 7 student wrote together with the authoress of various Maltese books Clare Azzopardi.
This session was co-ordinated by our Maltese teachers and involved Gabriel and Miguel Casha, two Year 7 students who acted as comperes during this reading session. The Hon Minister Dr Clifton Grima, Education Minister and Hon Julia Farrugia Portelli, Inclusion Minister read the book “Jien u Beppe, Beppe u jien” together with Clare Azzopardi.
During this session Clare Azzopardi explained to those present the idea behind this book.
After Beppe presented his new book “Jien Fekruna tal Baħar” to the Ministers. We then invited Francesco Mangion and Stephen Edwards, Beppe’s friends to read this book.
To conclude this session, the Headmaster addressed the students by mentioning the project launched by the President of Malta, : “L-ilsien Malti għal qalbi” and emphasised the need for students to appreciate the Maltese language and urged them to read Maltese books. Mr D’Amato thanked the Education and Inclusion Ministers for joining us during this reading session and thanked the LSEs for their excellent work with the students.
