On Friday, 17th May 2024 our school invited parents, students, ex-students, and other friends for a celebration were everyone present had the opportunity to appreciate the six languages which are taught at school. In an evening which lasted for over three hours, we had interviews, traditional games, quizzes, heritage and folklore and traditional food and drinks from each country. All these activities were held in the ground floor classrooms which were decorated with projects done by our students, photos related to eTwinning projects and games connected to the languages.
The spiral staircase and our foyer were decorated with six different flags of the six languages taught – Maltese, English, Italian, French, German and Spanish. We also had a book sale with reduced prices.
At 8.15pm everyone gathered in the school ground where we held a prize giving ceremony for students. After giving out the certificates, Mr D’Amato, who is nearing his retirement day was surprised with a thought by all the school. The evening came to an end with the play ‘Sitta u Sitta Tnax’, an original script by Mr Robert Aloisio and directed by Ms Shaian Debono. The play celebrated characters from the literature of the six different languages. Finally, Dr Ian Mifsud, General Director of the Secretariat for the Catholic Education addressed those present and thanked everyone for the well organised evening. He also thanked Mr D’Amato for all his years of service towards the school.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Darrel Pace who co-ordinated the whole evening and all those who contributed for the success of this activity. Many were involved in the preparation of this evening, those who prepared the drama, the light and sound, the exhibitions, the preparation of the certificates, the food and drinks and the book sale. All this could be possible thanks to many members of staff and students.
Heartfelt thanks to all!
