On the 23rd April, we celebrate the World Book Day. During this week at school, we celebrated this event by inviting two famous Maltese authors Rita Camilleri and Clare Azzopardi. Ms Camilleri met our Year 8 and 9 students and shared her experience as an authoress with them. Ms Clare Azzopardi had a reading session with Year 7 students and met our Year 10 students. During this week we also organised a book sale with reduced prices in the school foyer.
We believe in reading and urge our students to read. Reading helps learning new things, improves writing skills and increases vocabulary. Books increase the knowledge about cultures and past eras. Besides this, reading opens your mind when it comes to discussing certain matters. We are pleased that a good number of students in our school visit the library regularly to borrow books.
We would like to thank Mr Falzon, our librarian for his work in the library and our Maltese teachers for co-ordinating the meetings with the Maltese authors Ms Camilleri and Ms Azzopardi.
